I took my last dog to some training classes. Here is what they trained us to do:
When your dog jumps on you, quickly and immediately turn away from them, cross your arms and do not make eye contact until they stop the jumping. Once they calm down, resume your normal stance and interact with them. If they jump again, do the same thing again. It was amazing how well this worked with Toby - it only took a few times for him to catch on to the fact that he would not get my attention unless he behaved. But he never did catch on to the "stay" command! LOL |
