One of my Biewer girls had very bad breath when she was about 8 months. It turned out that she needed 19 baby teeth removed. Her breath has been much better since they were removed. Your pup seems awfully young to have breath that bad. And...he is too old to still have puppy breath. I would mention it to the vet just to be on the safe side.
