There is a difference in show "potential" and show "quality" and a risk with "potential". If you are wanting to show I'd wait for the "quality" vs. "potential" but again LOL my opinion. Especially if you are new to showing it can get very discouraging with a potential show dog. I have a hard enough time evaluating my own LOL, I'm so picky when it comes to what I put in the ring so in my opinion and I was new I'd go for an older as in knowing it's going to finish rather taking a risk
