Listen, Gracie has been fighting this for almost 2 months now! She's been on Amoxicillin, Cephalexin and now Baytril. She really only coughs now when she gets up in the mornings. We jokingly call it Smoker's Cough because she sounds like she is trying to hack something up!
She's not congested like she used to be, so she's not taking Robitussin right now. My vet said that in dogs this small kennel cough can hang on for several months. He's checked her lungs and stuff and she's fine there, so we're just hanging in there and waiting.
Last week she started with the runny nose and eyes again, and no appetite AT ALL, I basically had to force feed her! And the vet diagnosed her with tonsillitis that time (thus the reason she's on Baytril now) in addition to the remnants of kennel cough that she has. I could feel her swollen tonsils, but they've obviously gone down now.
Just hang in there, Gracie would get better then worse then better then worse, it's been a constant up and down for two months. Right now she's better than she has been the entire time so I'm hopeful she is finally kicking it!
