Gosh, I don't know - but did they look like worms at all? It is VERY smart that you saved the poo (I always did that too) so you can show the vet exactly what happened. The mucous is a definite sign of irritation. Unless her poo has returned to normal right away (meaning she's purged the offending thing), I'd get the sample in to the vet.
