Hey, you helped me on house training. We should switch dogs . Just kidding.. anyways, neutering will not stop growling or biting. It stops marking, excessive sniffing/drooling/panting over other dogs privates, and humping. If you reward him in any way (ex. yelling QUIET or NO) to him you are telling him to bark. He has learned that barking means you will talk to him or take him out of the crate. That will be a hard habit to break. All I can tell you is ignore the bad and praise the good. Do not give him attention or get excited when you put him in the crate, make it subtle. Also, maybe you could try putting the crate on your side table near you. Good luck.

Oh, and one more thing. I do think that you are supposed to say NO BITE when they chew on you but I have never had a puppy/biter. This is all my opinion I am in no way a professional (as I can't even get my dog house trained!).

One last thing! Make sure to take him on a long walk before bedtime so he is tired.
