Thanks Deb for posting this. I have had a no "loop hole" warranty for the last 3 years and have "by the Grace of God" not had anyone have to use it as of yet. As I said on the other thread I don't breed very much. When you are writing your contracts there are some things that must be present in order for it to be legal. You must have responisibilities laid out for both parties. It is not a contract if it is one-sided. It must be dated and include what they are purchasing, the amount received for the puppy and if you are one that allows payments, the payment arrangements, and the length of the warranty. Mine is 3 years like yours, but I would honor it for longer as long as I am still breeding. I limited it due to my Lupus and a fear to project any further in my breeding, but I think that if a dog I placed was dx at an older age with Liver Shunt or something on those lines I would still replace the puppy if I'm breeding then, if not I would still work out an alternative with them, like help them get a new one and me pay on the pup up to the amount that I received or something on those lines. I hope it never happens! but it could.
I think that the more that we can teach each other the better breeders we can be and the happier our dogs will be. I hope the days of the "loop-hole" contracts are numbered, but you will always have some out there that give no warranty at all.
