I tend to go for the females myself. I have one male(out of 6 dogs), and I love him to death, but, when I see the other males(my sons yorkie) going around lifting his leg and peeing(even though he's been neutered), I realize I was very lucky with the little guy I got. If the dogs have all been spayed/neutered, then you shouldn't have a problem with a male or female
