for many many reasons, yes please get the pre-op bloodwork ... as far as your baby having to stay overnight, unless there will be someone there to watch over him ALL NIGHT, i would personally insist on bringing him home with you...just make sure you get the phone number and address of the emergency vet just in case (but i am sure he will be fine!

my vet did not use a cone...i put them in baby onsies and they worked great!
