Since we moved Paddy still has been going into the bathroom to pee at least once a week. I tried feeding him in the bathroom and spending more time with him in there so he doesn't think its not part of the house. Most of the times I think his accidents happen because hubby and I don't realize how long its been since he last went out and don't watch him and then find a surprise. We are trying to be better about that but with busy lives its bound to happen. I read about the bell trick and decided to try it.
However, the bell rang loudly and now I think he is scared of it.
What would be the best way to change his perception?
Also, I've read on one site that you shouldn't use treats with this training because the reward should be going outside, and then on another website it said you should use treats. I am confused and would appreciate any advice! |
with him being scared of the noise- i'd just sit on the floor with him and ring the bell and give him treats- kinda desensitize him to it.
as for treats well- i can tell ya that if you use them- i bet you he will get the idea sooner! We still use treats- but just for poop - she knows after she has pooped outside- she hightails it back in and she gets a treat. She doens't get much but just enough to remind her that yes- we do that outside
