I removed a tick from Piper's back this past summer when she was only 12 weeks old. I too made sure that the tick was removed head and all. She had this bump that was about the size of a pea for a couple months. I showed the vet and he wasn't conerned he said it was just an allergic reaction to the bite. Now there isn't any bump at all. I live just 2 towns away from Lyme and ticks are a big problem in this area but only the tiny deer ticks can give you Lyme disease. My first yorkie had Lyme 3 times and I have had it 2 times. It's quite common here.
