It will be fine for most dogs but any animal could have an allergic reaction to it. Over time the chemicals could potentially build up in their systems causing issues, just like vaccines. You have to do what you have to do though...

I'd be nervous about using a full dose on a 2 pound dog also.
Some YT members who use Frontline split the dose.
That may be an option but most vets seem to disagree.
I will say, that is what I would do...for flea meds if I had to give them, not for heartworm meds.

If you aren't seeing anything on them, are you sure it isn't mites?
Where are they scratching?
What are they eating?
