So, I have a really simple question for starters. How do you handle the situation when your female is in season, and you don't wan't to breed her at that time? Do you seperate the dogs or is there someway to make it impossible for the male to get to the female?

Oh, I have one more question. Do the males always start marking really bad after you let them breed with the female??

Appreciate any insight. Thanks.
I've got a young female in heat right now. She won't be bred until her next heat, so we are in the boat you are talking about. You need to do whatever is necessary to keep them "apart". That could be boarding one of them at a family member or friends house while in heat, separating them (that's what I am doing); watching them carefully when you do have them in the same room, and if you do have them out together (only under your constant close supervision), she should wear a doggie diaper/pantie and he should be wearing a belly band. There is no way to make it impossible for the male to get to the female as long as they are in the same house! I've read plenty of stories....do a search even here on YT. I've also heard of the territorial marking getting bad.....it's worse, yes, but not unbearalbe IMO. A belly band helps with that issue also. Good luck to you!

Usually ive experienced 1 puppy born then placenta,2nd puppy then placenta

Congratulations on your new arrivals. Glad everything went well.
Is it possible you missed the placentas.....did mom eat them without you knowing? I know when Lexie had her pups last year it was very difficult for me to be sure (inexperiance, I guess). If you're not sure guess it's best to take mom in for a "clean out" shot.
Congrats again....Hope we get to see some pictures later this afternoon.
