Tea Tree Oil! I work in a child care center and we have had issues with lice on a few occasions. The best thing you can do is bag everything that is soft or could have transfered lice to it and put it outside for at least 2 weeks. You have to be careful because even if you get all the adults out, the eggs will hatch and you will end up doing it all over again!
Then, as a preventative from this point forward.... Tea Tree Oil It's strong smelly stuff, but the Lice don't like the smell of it so they won't attach to you. You can buy it at almost any drug store, walmart, target, and some grocery stores. Put a few drops in your shampoo and wash with it two or so times a week. (I would do more until you know for sure that it is out of your house).
This is what we ALWAYS tell parents to do... and all the teachers I know swear by this too! ( I even know a teacher who hasn't been to a movie theater in 10 years because she is afraid of lice... and she swears by this!)
