I had two dogs when I bought a third from my groomer's which I know I shouldn't have, but it was more a rescue type situation. I brought the pup home then took her for her exam and fecal test. Fecal came out positive for Giardia. I immediately quarantined her to my boyfriend's house and had the other two tested twice and they came out negative. The puppy had a habit of eating its poop and being at home alone at my boyfriend's house did not help the situation but I had no choice. I've tried every kind of method to prevent her from eating her poop but I think it is a psychological thing and my boyfriend has had a very difficult time preventing this. She will deliberately hold her poop until he is not there (i.e.: goes to bed, gets in the shower) then eat it. My vet prescribed Metronidazole for two weeks. We ran another fecal and it was still positive. She was put on it at a higher dosage for another 3 or so weeks. I heard about Panacur so I asked my vet to give to her along with the Metronidazole and she gave me a prescription for 3 days. Her last fecal test did come back negative (she still eats poop but I'm hoping to curb this bad habit once she is back at home with me) but I want to give her another round of Panacur just to be safe.
