You have to be patient. Make sure when you take him out you use a leash so he can't just run and stay by the door. It sounds silly but I tell my pups when they go out on the leash to "go potty" they will get used to you saying that . Don't play with him when your out there just try to ignore him. Just walk where he walks and say "come on go potty". As soon as he goes, praise him then immediatly bring him in. He will eventually learn that outside is for business. I try to take mine out as soon as they wake up from a nap, and right after they eat. Good luck and be patient, he'll get there.
