I took Luca to the vet last week. I had been using flea medicine, so I knew it wasn't fleas. Anyway - they gave him a shot of cortisone and some antihistimine pills for allergies - cleared him right up!!! And he was scratching ALLLL the time. The shot did the trick within a few hours. You can give them pills as needed but no more than 3 a day, so I give him one like every other day, just so he doesn't start back up again.

How did the vet know it wasn't allergies???

I have never tried this, but my neighbor said the vet told him to use Kids Liquid Benedryl. He uses it all the time and has had his dogs for 9+ years. I don't know details on this, so you might want to call the vet first. It's worth a try. It is much cheaper than going to the vet everytime.
