I am no expert by any means but it sounds like your girl may be a red leg,from the colors you describe her a being(I saw one of your posts).you need to oil her lightly.
now as for the hair breaking terribly I have one that I believe is a red leg and when it breaks off I trim the ends.if the hair is just comming out in chunks or anything like that It is stress. my girl went through that when she was vetted.her hair can be beautiful just not floor length but one other good thing about the red legs are they never mat and the hair feels so luxurious.
