Hi, I hope you Yorkie people don't mind a silkie busting in! I used to have 2 Yorkies years ago. I was looking when I found my Silkie Terrier, he is about 2 1/2 years old, neutered I am not sure when. He was a shelter dog I got at about 9 mos old. He is painfully shy/submissive, but is very sweet and playful. He has always had a beautiful silky coat, I bathed him about every 3 weeks, I think, I didn't really pay attention, it could have been less often than that, always w/daily brushing. Recently, past 6 months, he has needed bathing more and more often, now I am up to every week and he looks yuck way before that. I was using expensive puppy shampoo, now I have tried dollar store dog shampoo, human baby, some Matrix stuff I love for me. I have quit using conditioner which makes brushing uncomfortable for both of us. I have thought of getting some no rinse baby conditioner. His food was Eukaneuba small dog dry food, now my BF buys Costco dry food, but if it's that, it took months to affect his coat? I am just now realizing this, I am going to buy the food I used to get.
Does anyone have any ideas? (BTW, I am taking him to get his teeth cleaned! Greasy little dog with bad teeth!!!???? Horrors)
