It was founded by the retailers of pets, how strict do you think it's going to be? Many commercial breeders have had to leave AKC for various reasons, including poor kennel conditions, and forging documents, so these alternative registries pop up. Do you think APRI does kennel inspections? I'm not saying dogs registered with them are bad, but you should know you are supporting the commercial pet industry when you purchases a dog registered with them. I would rather have no papers than one from a poor registry. I would like puppy mills to go out of business.

APRI - AMERICA'S PET REGISTRY INC. Advertises free registration for commercial breeders. Non Profit 'dedicated to the preservation of the professional pet industry', dogs and cats. Founded by retailers of pets (commercial breeders and resellers). Registries |
However, the OP question concerned APR, which is American Purebred Registry, and they will register unknown pedigree dogs/cats. They do not sponsor any shows, and no proof of purebred required. Since APRL is sponsoring itself, what proof do they really demand? It's like the foxes are guarding the chickens.
