Hi,
I have been weaning the puppies for about a week now and the little girl (Jinny) is not interested in eating what I'm giving all of them, and she is not gaining much weight. The mom will not nurse them anymore. At week four, she decided she was done and we had to make her feed them.
I have to really watch Jinny because she gets lethargic and shaky easy. I have bought PuppyCal and I give that to her and also try to get as much of the Just Born milk replacer in her as quickly as possible by using the bottle.
I have tried:
1. ground up the dry kibble and giving water along with it.
2. ground up dry kibble, along with Just Born Milk Replacer to make it soupy.
3. bottle feeding her just the Just Born Milk Replacer with 3 different types of nipples.
Her and her brothers have had a taste (fingertip) of the Whelping Pudding that we gave the mommy. And all of them really liked that, but who wouldn't?

The recipe is the one with the small box of Vanilla Cook-n-Serve Pudding, 2 beaten egg yolks, 2 cups whole milk and 1/4 cup sugar.
I found another Puppy Formula that is 1 oz Similac, 1 oz water, 1 egg yolk, 1 Tblsp white Karo syrup. I have not tried this though as I wanted to ask all of you. This recipe came from my mother and it may be 30-40 years old also.
Is there anything else that you could recommend I should try? Also, I think I read somewhere on here about not ever giving puppies the white part of an egg. Is this true? And is it just for puppies? Or for older dogs also, I think I've heard of people making their dogs scrambled egg for breakfast?
I have only given my dogs Science Diet dry, Science Diet Canned puppy food (not canned for the new puppies); and treats like the Vita-Life(?) chicken chips in which the only ingredient is chicken. Just so you know that we don't give our animals any people food/scraps.
Any insight you can give is much appreciated.
Thanks so much!
WOW! I didn't realize I wrote so much - - sorry it's so long, I didn't mean to write a book!
