They say the same thing about using cedar shavings for rats, hamsters, etc. I dunno how much is true and how much is an exaggeration. We used it for all my rodents growing up and they generally lived good long lives other then rare situations with extenuating circumstances. (we had a rat somehow hang himself in his cage)
And I have heard it about rabbits too, but it may be more wives tale than fact.
