My yard isn't HUGE, maybe 40' x 100' with side yards, but the pups think it's a football field. They love to run, legs out straight, fur blowin' in the breeze ... they look like they're going 90 miles an hour.

They go out the doggie door and play; it also makes it easier to keep them potty trained. They've never made any attempt to get out of the fenced yard.

Until recently.

It hasn't rained much here, and the "dirt" has reverted to its normal "sand". My little 4 lb. Bella has become a champion digger: head down, li'l front feets a'flyin', dirt coming past her so fast it rooster tails .

Now I can't let them play outside without being there, or she heads for the fenceline and tries to get to China on me .

Don't they know how GOOD they have it at home? Why do they want to go exploring ? So yes, a leash would be a good idea ...
