Hi.....my 10 month old started her first heat cycle on Wednesday. She must be keeping herself pretty clean as I have seen no spotting on anything. The bleeding usually lasts about a week or so, changing from red to a pinkish color in the later stages. This would be when the female would be receptive to any males, so at only 8 months old you want to be sure she is kept well away from any intact males for the next couple of weeks or more.
How long will you be yorkie-sitting? Are there any intact males present? You're going to be having your hands full soon if you do.
