UPDATE (further comment) on Miss Kitty Oh, boy, thanks to Wylie's Mom's post, with the link to FLAGYL info (Metronidazole), I did some additional research and found this very worrisome information: Metronidazole [Flagyl] should be avoided or used with caution, at reduced doses, in animals with kidney or liver disease.
So, by the first vet not doing blood work yesterday--just assuming stomach upset of some sort, then ordering a prescription of FLAGYL for me to dose her with, he did a double whammy on my poor Miss Kitty. She was already suffering from kidney problems--and then I started dosing her with the prescribed FLAGYL which is totally contraindicated, and makes her problems worse. Maybe that's why her kidney levels are so elevated--?? (Grasping at straws again.) Does anyone know for sure why Flagyl is contraindicated when kidney problems exist?
