I've had a few different breeds of dogs in my life. I personally don't think yorkies and any harder to train than other small dogs. I have a 4 year old Bichon and Myah who will be 1 on Dec. 2. I trained them both the same way...outside and I got both of them in Feb. and winters in Wisconsin, aren't fun to train outside, but we didn't have any problems. Sure they both had accidents, but that was mostly our fault for not watching them.
As far as needing pampering....they don't have to be, but both of mine are. Any dog I have would be pampered..it is just me. If it was a farm dog, maybe not, but these two are part of the family. I've spoiled all my girls....skin and fur.
You said you have a pap....so you shouldn't have any problems with a yorkie. Plus, the yorkie will be "trained" by the other dogs, so you should have potty training problems.
