I have a female only (no male to compare). When Bailey was a puppy, she had her own bed for night time sleeping, so during nap time, she'd sleep at the foot of my recliner. Ever since we started letting her sleep in bed with us, she became the biggest cuddler and now she HAS to sleep in our laps for naps. I'm not complaining - I got EXACTLY what I wanted. Good luck!
