Instead, I'd emphasize that children need to be involved in the care of a dog from Day One, so it just doesn't fall on Mommy and Daddy, who already have a ton of obligations as it is. Even the smallest children can help put food out and learn to walk a dog, especially if it is trained from an early age by everyone in the family. Kids can also pick up dog poop and learn to groom their dog too. Kids who love their dog and are already accustomed to regular chores should have no issue with this.
People can have "skinkids" and "furkids" too.  |
I think this was more for the ones that don't have kids yet...I have a friend that has a lab. This lab was her everything UNTIL she had her first child. Now, the lab sits out on the back porch and is about 45 lbs heavier because no one plays with him anymore.
