She really shouldn't ever smell that way, even after 1 week Joey still smells good, not perfumey good, but Fritos good. One of the things that might be troubling her is her anal glands are too full. Does she ever do the little booty scoot? Most dogs empty their glands when they poop, but some don't, and the liquid in the gland gets too full. If you look around the anus, it will be slightly poofy. It's best if the vet shows you how to empty the glands because unless you do it properly, you can push the contents further up, and this can lead to impaction. Other bad smells come from yeast infections, and ear infections, both of which need to be check out by a vet. Don't mask the problem with scents, odors give us an important indication to the health of our dog, and this is not normal. For the dry skin, make sure you use a shampoo meant for dogs because they have a different ph than shampoos meant for humans, even gentle human shampoos can dry out their skin and hair. Always follow with a good conditioner, and the very most important step is really rinsing well, left over products can really dry out the skin, and lead to skin infections which also can be smelly.
