There is an excellent training section on this forum you should check out. If I were you, I'd put your new puppy on a harness with leash even before I opened the front door. This will prevent accidents from happening.

2.) My sister is 5 years old, Do yorkies do well with children? She is very gentle and will not be rough. Yorkies do well with children. Question is...will your 5 year old sister do well with the yorkie? Children must be trained that yorkies are very fragile. I would watch her around your dog until she gets use to her and learns how to handle her. I've had yorkies since my son was 2 and have only had 1 accident where he stepped on Chester. Chester still has problems with the injured leg sometimes.

3.) Does anyone know about how much it costs to put a fence in? We are going to need one in our back yard.Call some fencing companies in your area and get quotes

4.) How do we go about finding a responsible breeder? Under the breeders section, there is a responsible breeders checklist that you can refer to on what to look for. also, if you find a breeder, list their names here and see if anyone has heard or dealt with them

5.) At what age should we bring our new puppy home?This is an area that some people see differently on. In my area,..south texas...breeders will generally let a puppy go between 8-10 weeks. Most people will tell you not before 12 weeks but I've found that in my area and in Houston, the puppies are usually gone before that age.
