It sounds to me like your vet did an IDEXX Snap Bile Acid Test which only reads up to 30...You need to have your vet do a regular bile acid test that needs to be sent out to a lab.
278 is a high ALT....That should not be taken lightly. It's at least double if not more the normal levels...
I think others who posted were saying that the 30 pre and post BAT results were not that high, but I don't think they took into consideration that this is probably an IDEXX Snap BAT which will not give you numbers over 30. It needs to be redone.
6 months is old enough to get an accurate reading on a BAT.
