Rimadyl is shown to do more damage with long-term use (like for canine arthritis) than short-term, but the dogs who do have an adverse reaction to it die of things like liver failure and severe internal bleeding.
Rimadyl is a sort of controversial drug, and since Yorkshire Terriers are prone to liver issues anyway, I thought it might be important to bring this issue up.

Supposedly there are other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) on the market which are not as hard on the kidneys and digestive tract as Rimadyl, but I have not explored the options. I've heard good things about Metacam, but all NSAIDs carry this threat to one degree or another. Rimadyl is just the worst of the worst.
Just something to watch out for.
