Last night after I posted this I got her to lick some peanut butter off my finger. I felt hopeful so I coated the pill in peanut butter and stuck it in her mouth. After a couple of times spitting it out, she finally chewed it and swallowed it! She still wouldn't eat last night so we spoon fed her some baby food (I know it's not good for long term use, but we had to get her to eat SOMETHING and we couldn't just feed her the high calorie/fat peanut butter). She happily licked a couple spoonfuls up and went to bed. This morning she is feeling much better! She is a lot more active and ate her breakfast this morning with no problems.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I will keep them in mind for the future. Maggie is on her way back to normal.
Bhikku: Thank you SO much for that warning! No, the vet did not tell me about the possible side effects. I will watch her carefully. What would you suggest as a painkiller in the future because I know both Franklin and Maggie have been given Rimadyl before. |
