I'm a lot more worried about your dog's snapping at you! That's not a good sign!

I suggest either behaviorist, or some intense training. By allowing the snapping and growling to get the dog a nice big treat, you rewarded and thus encourage that behavior for the future. If your dog snaps, let yourself get bitten just to show that it wont give them what they want. I would not be cowed by my own dog...that can lead to some seriously out of control behavior.

In Chewy's early months he had a few bratty episodes where he would try that kind of thing on me. I just let him bite me if he wanted to (puppy bites aint too bad), but I would take that treat / toy / stolen object away from him. his lesson: Bite and growl = get your treaure taken. But also I included "Drop it" and "Leave it" training. If he got snappy, he got jacked for his loot. If he dropped it and left it on command, he got a nice reward.
