There's a difference between raw chicken bones and cooked chicken bones. Raw chicken bones don't splinter and cooked ones do. That said, many a dog has eaten a cooked chicken bone and done just fine. I'd watch him carefully and at the first sign of any distress, I'd have him to the vet.
