My son Kennedy has to be on a gluten free diet, on top of that he has food allergies to seafood, dairy, soy protein, and all nuts. I do not take chances with his food at all. I alway's make sure that who ever is having the diner ( grandparents, aunt's) know that I will be bringing his food myself. My mother is the only one that goes out of her way to use the products ( rice flour, rice milk, his gluten free noodles) that my son can have. My mother in law on the other hand is a whole different story, she "forgets" he can't have any nuts at all. I can't take chances with his health so I alway's bring something he can have too.I feel that if the shoe was on their foot, then they would be the same way.
I just became vegetarian this past May and she pitched a fit. She said I was picky enough as it was and that I was going to ruin the holiday's! She has had us over for diner a few times and has tried to get me to eat the meat

Once I offered to make a soup( olive gardens Zuppa Tuscana) and I used a vegetarian meatless sausage for it and used Soy creamer, you could not actually tell by looking at it it was vegetarian at all, and it tasted so good too! Everyone loved it and I had to give them my recipe

I offered to do a side dish of roasted vegies, vegie gravy for the smashed potatoes, and a Tofurky for me and anyone that would like to try it ( I can't eat a 9 serving tofurky myself!) We go over for their Thanksgiving on Friday so we will see how that goes.
