I agree that it is a good thing. It just makes the experience more enjoyable for everyone. The un-neutered males in our dog park always seem to be more aggressive and territorial. I know this is hypocritical and she is spayed now but when she wasn't, it was a pain trying to keep the boy dogs from trying to get her.
Fixed animals are generally better pets, and less at risk for severe health problems. Have you considered getting Bosley neutered?
