No, I'm just worried about booties getting wet. That's what's in contact with the snow and occasional slush. I just know my littlest one is miserable when his fleece booties get wet. The fabric of the coat could be fleece or whatever you like.

I really think simplicity is best. If you're having to put on multiple layers to make it work, you're not going to want to go to the trouble for a short walk. The idea of putting on one snowsuit that has booties attached is appealing. My preference would be for it to be a relatively lightweight fleece suit. For extreme cold, you could put a coat on over the top pretty easily.
