I think an important thing to keep in mind is that almost all purebred dog breeds are the result of "designer" crossbreeds...who knows when the Morkie (or other equivalent crossbreed) will be bred into existence long enough to warrant a pedigree?
Yorkshire Terrier = Welsh Terrier + Skye Terrier + Clydesdale Terrier + Paisley Terrier + Who knows what else
Golden Retriever = Tweed Water Spaniel + Irish Setter + Wavy-Coated Retriever
Miniature Schnauzer = Standard Schnauzer + Affenpinscher + Poodle
You get the picture. So the moral of the story is:
They're all "designer dogs"...
