Since he is so young and his organs aren't fully developed, the bile acids test wouldn't be 100% accurate. Dogs should be tested after 20 weeks unless there are symptoms. Small size would be one and it was good of your vet to think up but you may want to redue it later.
If he isn't gaining, I'd switch foods. Ten percent fat is all? That is not enough. Or is that the canned?
