I would not use oil in the coat for the day of the show, you want the coat to be clean and free of added oils. I use a finishing spray or a static spray for the coat before we go in the ring.

I am not sure what you mean by "muddle", but if you mean separate...flat ironing the coat helps to keep it flowing together and prevents separation. Plush Puppy also makes a product called "Swishy Coat" which helps!
