I also vote Apple

If you go the apple store they will have everything for you to look and at play with. I would get their apple care warranty because if anything breaks they will bend over backwards to get it fixed. They will also transfer your old files for free and I think you even get a lesson or two.
If you are looking for a desktop you would want to look at the iMacs. They are all built in so there is no tower.
Apple - iMac
The one thing you want to find out is if the games they want to play are available for Mac OSX.
Whatever brand you get, just don't get the cheapest one. You'll have more problems with an entry level model than one with more RAM, a better video card, a faster processor, etc.
Also don't worry so much about a bundle. Check
TigerDirect.com - Computers, Computer Parts, Computer Components & Electronics for deals on monitors and printers. The bundled printer isn't always the best. I'd actually recommend a cheap laser printer for a family with a bunch of kids printing who knows what. We have a B&W Brother laser (it was like $60) we have beat up on that thing (printing flyers, marketing material in the 1000's) and it's still alive. You could always get a cheap ink jet if you do need to do color. I get my photos printed at one of those Kodak kiosks because 100 pics @ 20c a print is still cheaper than a $30 ink cartridge.
Good luck!!!
