My girls have always used Revolution. I like it because it is dosed based on a smaller weight range. I have 1 that is on the under 5 lbs. and 4 that are on the 5-10 lbs. range. It is a once a month topical on the back of the neck and covers the heartworm and the fleas. My girls have never had a problem with it and they have never had any fleas. Living in the south, we have to have year round coverage for everything. I always wait a week before bathing after treatment, but it isn't necessary for the Revolution. Many of the topicals say that you should bathe them for awhile after treatment.
Be sure and have him tested before starting any kind of prevention to make sure he hasn't contacted the heartworms.
