I dont' think there is anything wrong with that as long as you follow it up with advice. Some people don't know that buying from a pet store is a bad idea and I think it is great to educate them on whatever you can.
LIke when people say- my dog is throwing up- i feed purina. They want help on throwing up but i also suggest better food because purina is not good food and could be contributing to the throwing up.
