I do think *a lot* of people use Angel's Eyes for their Yorkie (I've heard of several...not sure how many.) Most of those who use it don't realize it's a low grade antibiotic or don't realize the effect that will have on their systems.
Your vet told you not to use it, and that should really be enough. Vets, IMHO, tend to be flippant about a lot of things or will market something to you as safe when it really isn't nearly as safe as they say.....when they say NOT to use something, however, that is probably advice you can trust! (Like I said, they seem to be more likely to *wrongly* advise the safety of certain products, but they are a lot LESS likely to *wrongly* advise to NOT use something.)
Using Angel's Eyes is *probably* ok if your pup is healthy (which can be confirmed with a complete blood chemistry panel and CBC, and a Bile Acid Test--Yorkies are 31 times more likely to have liver problems than any other breed, and use of a product like this in a dog that's liver compromised could be VERY detrimental to her health)....but only for a short period of time. Like I said before, there is no way it would be okay for you to be on any kind of antibiotic forever or even for several months at a time, UNLESS there was a very, very good reason AND a doctor advised and prescribed it, and even then they would normally check your blood work several times while you're on it just to make sure your liver is doing okay!
After having said all that about being able to trust a vet when he advises AGAINST something, I just realized that he advised to NOT use distilled water. I wonder what his reasoning behind that is.....I do and I know a lot of others do too. I know people who only drink distilled water too..... I would be very interested to know why he thinks that's not ok??
