Hm, tough one.
My suggestion would be to verbally correct him (No!) whenever you catch him peeing in the crate, and temporarily remove his bedding for awhile. Then I would put him in the crate as usual and ignore him when he throws a tantrum. Most dogs do not like to lie in their own urine, and bedding prevents them from having to do so by wicking away the moisture. If you take out the bedding, it means if he deliberately messes the crate by peeing when he doesn't actually have to go, he'll have to suffer the consequences by lying in it. It may take a couple of baths, but eventually he'll figure out that peeing in the crate sucks.
Try throwing a breathable blanket over the crate if he gets real riled up. This should reduce stimulation and calm him down. Also, be sure to reward him lavishly for good behavior in the crate (quiet, not peeing, etc...)
Be careful not to reward spoiled behavior, or it'll only get worse...you could also try ignoring him part of the time when he's out of the cage, keeping an eye on him while not interacting with him directly. This will send the message that he is not always going to be the center of your attention, and that you are only going to give him attention at
your discretion, not his.
