I've found that bows stay in better if I use a seperate hair tie for the ponytail or topknot, and then a beret bow clipped just under the hair tie. I use the small "ouchless" bands that look like rubberbands for braces.

I'm trying to teach my Paddy to wear a topknot again. We had a groomer who always cut his face hair short, but I am trying to grow it long again. I put a festive bow on him this evening after grooming, and it was messed up in seconds. I think it just takes them time to get used to!
