I live in the Bay Area, and a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom 2,100 square feet home can list at 700,000 and close at 850,000, depending on the area, and sometimes upwards of a million.

This makes it virtually impossible to buy a house unless you're willing to starve for the next 10 years.

Where do you live and what does an average house cost in your area?
