Since we don't know how many dogs are on Revolution compared to drugs like Heartgard, we really can't say "for sure" that there is a higher death rate just by this article but, in my opinion, Heartgard and possibly even Interceptor have been around for longer (so probably more popular?) with less deaths a year. My guess would be more people use Heartgard than Revolution and less deaths have been reported, so I really don't like Revolution.

I have read at least twice (I think it was right on Yorkie Talk) about people saying they have heard of some dogs getting heartworms even while on this. I mean, it happens with all these products but I've heard more about it with this one.

I use Interceptor.
Sentinel is Interceptor with Program to stop fleas from reproducting.
I think they are both reasonably safe for small dogs but all dogs are different. Heartgard is okay also (as okay as pesticides can be).
Thanks for the info! We live in an apartment and Rory is pad trained, but since she attends daycare daily I'm pretty sure it's a good idea to keep up with the flea preventative, which we will now switch.
