If you want your own piece of mind, yes. Puppies with heart problems show symptoms. They don't play, act winded, cough, labor to breathe if it's bad enough, there can be a murmur sound present cause their hearts aren't functioning properly, and generally...not puppyish.

In the case with my Reese...other than the x ray he had NO other heart symptoms and we'd had him for several months at this point. I had a very difficult time believing anything was wrong with his heart....HOWEVER...I wanted to put my mind at rest so I took him to a cardiologist. I will tell you...at least here..it takes a long time to get an appointment for an animal not in heart failure. The visit and ultrasound of his heart cost me $225.

Btw, you can google images and find x rays of an enlarged heart...I had Reese's x rays...his heart did NOT look like the images I found.
